Tigers lose close one to CPA (High School Sports ~ 01/08/16)
The opening game of District 12-AA play for the Tigers would be a chance for Marshall County (6-10, 0-1) to find out how much it had learned from a demanding out of conference schedule leading up to Tuesday nights showdown against Christ Presbyterian Academy (7-6, 1-0). CPA, the defending two-time state champions, showed they still had a little bit left in the tank despite losing two of the top players in the country to prep schools by beating a tough Marshall County squad 54-46. -
Tigerettes find some good in loss to CPA (High School Sports ~ 01/08/16)
The Marshall County (1-11, 0-1) Tigerettes came out of the Above the Rim Invitational with a little more confidence than earlier in the season, having finally gotten rid of the monkey on its back with the first win of the year over Hickman County. Christ Presbyterian Academy (10-4, 0-1), one of the premier girls teams in Middle Tennessee came away with the 72-37 victory over the Tigerettes on Tuesday night at Lewisburg, but there were enough bright spots in the game for the Marshall County faithful to have hope that the girls squad might still make some noise in district play. -
Clean sweep for Rocket wrestlers (High School Sports ~ 01/08/16)
The Forrest Rocket wrestling team returned to the mats after the holiday break and came away with a road sweep over Eagleville and Greenbrier Tuesday. The Rockets opened the tri-meet at Greenbrier with a 64-18 win over Eagleville, which has a history of not showing its hand too much until late in the season. -
Summertown halts Forrest winning streak (High School Sports ~ 01/08/16)
The Forrest Lady Rockets, coming off four straight wins continued their topsy-turvy season with a 59-50 loss at home to Summertown Tuesday night. "I think we played with little energy and focus," Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. "Summertown played with energy and was more focused than us." -
Bulldogs falter late against Warriors (High School Sports ~ 01/08/16)
Victory eluded the Cornersville Bulldogs (0-10, 0-5) once again, as they suffered a 50-40-road loss to the Culleoka Warriors (4-8, 2-3) on Tuesday night. The young Bulldogs appeared they might break through for their first win of the season after grabbing a 27-24 lead late in the third quarter. Cornersville, however, was unable to hold off Culleoka during crunch time, as the Warriors outscored the Bulldogs 26-13 over the final 9:25 to escape with the 10-point victory. -
Hopkins carries Lady Bulldogs past Culleoka (High School Sports ~ 01/08/16)
Junior point guard Madison Hopkins helped Cornersville (4-9, 3-2) continue their long winning streak against Culleoka on Tuesday night when she poured in a career high 24 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 65-48 road victory over the Lady Warriors (3-8, 1-4). Cornersville held just a 39-35 lead through the first three quarters of play, but pulled away down the stretch by outscoring Culleoka 26-13 in the fourth quarter to claim their 27th straight win over the Lady Warriors. -
Rockets take down Eagles (High School Sports ~ 01/08/16)
Victory breaks 13-game losing streak Forrest proved to be a different team than the one that lost by 32 points at Summertown on December 15 as the Rockets played inspired from the opening tip to come away with a 59-48 win at Chapel Hill Tuesday night. "You only want the ones around you that really care enough to persevere through the any kind of toughness," Forrest coach Randy Toombs said. "If your doing the right thing, good things will come to you sooner or later, so I am very proud of the guys."
