Hot-shooting foes end LMS boys' year (High School Sports ~ 01/20/16)
The Lewisburg Middle School boys traveled to Murfreesboro for the season-ending James C. Haile Tournament at Middle Tennessee Christian School to take on Prescott South from Cookeville in the first round of the large school division. The Tigers (2-14) stayed even early, but a big second quarter and the Bulldogs' ability to hold Tigers leading scorer Canelius Turner to just two points culminated in a 56-22 loss. -
LMS girls suffer upset in first round of tourney (High School Sports ~ 01/20/16)
The Lewisburg Middle School girls brought one of its better teams in recent history into the first round of the large school James C. Haile Tournament at Middle Tennessee Christian School on Saturday to face the underdog Avery Trace Middle School. The Tigerettes started out hot and took a big lead into the second quarter, but LMS went cold for the remainder of the contest and Avery Trace snuck away from Murfreesboro with a first round upset 32-24. -
Marshall County team joins Music City Brawl (Community Sports ~ 01/20/16)
The Marshal County Wrestling Club competed in the seventh annual Music City Brawl last weekend at Independence High School as over 750 youth wrestlers from all over Tennessee, as well as many surrounding states participated in the event. The MCWC entered 15 wrestlers in the meet and came away 35 wins, 16 coming on pins and seven on technical falls. -
Forrest sweeps tri-meet but loses Sisk (High School Sports ~ 01/20/16)
The Forrest Rockets traveled to Cheatham County Thursday for a tri-meet versus the host Cubs and Montgomery Central and the Chapel Hill grapplers came away with a sweep, but it came at big cost. Opening up the tri-meet on a good note, the Rockets blasted the Indians 64-18, accumulating 30 points by forfeit. Joseph Redman (145 pounds) started off the meet with a pin over Bryton Spitzley before Clepper Watson (152) tied it up with a fall over Christian Tweed. -

Belmont signee Nicholas Hopkins continued his superlative senior season Friday night on his home court at Fayetteville, pouring in 41 points to lead the Tigers to a 69-45 win over the Forrest Rockets. Hopkins scored 30 points in an earlier December meeting at Forrest. -

The Forrest Lady Rockets began the second time around the District 9-A slate with a trip to Fayetteville Friday night, looking to string together a winning streak before the start of the upcoming district tournament at Chapel Hill. "It is always good to get a district win, especially on the road," Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. "I thought that we came out flat on offense and was settling for jumpers when we could have gotten the ball in the paint or short corner for some easy shots." -

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs came into Friday's match-up against one-win Hampshire (1-16, 1-7), riding a red hot winning streak as they have captured six of its last eight games, including four in a row by a margin of 21 points per game. Make that streak five wins in a row after a 54-27 pummeling of the Lady Hawks on Homecoming night at Cornersville. "We weren't pleased with our energy once again tonight, we started slow," Cornersville coach Peyton Newton said. -
Bulldogs break through for win (High School Sports ~ 01/20/16)
The Cornersville Bulldogs have had several opportunities for a win this season, but have come up short on numerous occasions including a 10-point loss to Hampshire to start off district play early in December. This time around the Bulldogs, led by a senior and a freshman, played smart from start to finish and picked up their first win of the season via with a 40-36 triumph over the Hawks on Homecoming night. -
