MCWC gears up for state tourney (High School Sports ~ 02/12/16)
The Marshall County Wrestling Club competed in the Tennessee State Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Region 3 Championship last Saturday at Tullahoma High School and the MCWC had eight wrestlers place in the tournament out of the group of twelve that competed. Coach Wallace was hired today as a teacher assistant filling a vacancy created when Shane Yokely resigned. Perry County (19-5) came into Thursday night's contest at Forrest riding an eight-game winning streak and the Lady Vikings made it nine in a row, beating the Lady Rockets 59-52 in a hard fought game. "We didn't play bad for the second game in row," Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. "We didn't play bad against Moore County too, but we still got beat, so we just need to find a way to win." -

The regular season finale was an encouraging performance by the Forrest Rockets, who took Perry County (13-10) to the limit before falling late 48-47 Thursday night at Chapel Hill. "We just gave them too many second chances, if we could have limited them by three of those we would have been ok, a few less turnovers we would be ok, if we could have taken a few smarter shots, we would be ok," Forrest coach Randy Toombs said. "It was a nice outing. It was encouraging, but it is so encouraging that you just want to win."
