Tigers fall apart after foul strikes Patriot in face (High School Sports ~ 04/22/16)
The Marshall County Tigers missed a chance on Monday to stay in the heat of the District 12-AA race with a heart breaking 3-2 loss at Page, who was coming off a disappointing loss to last place Giles County three games prior. Marshall County would have one more shot to stay in the top three spots in the district standings in a rematch against the Patriots on Tuesday at Joe George Field in Lewisburg, but an unfortunate accident knocked the wind out of the Tigers sails in the fifth inning and Page prevailed 7-4. -
Eagleville suffers Forrest wrath (High School Sports ~ 04/22/16)
The Forrest Lady Rockets (15-4, 7-1), unhappy with their 1-0 loss to Moore County Tuesday night, traveled to Eagleville on Wednesday where the Lady Eagles suffered the wrath of the defeat, losing 11-1 in five innings. "I think they realized they have got to hit the ball and be on the attack instead of being the 'attackee', if that is a word," Forrest coach Becky Cheatham said. "I told them before the game, we are in a position now where we have to lay all out on the line, there is nothing to lose, so turn it loose and play." -
Raiderettes end Lady Rockets' streak (High School Sports ~ 04/22/16)
It's always them. Them meaning the Moore County Raiderettes, who beat Forrest 1-0 Tuesday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, breaking the Lady Rockets' streak of not losing to a Class A team since the 2014 state tournament when they fell to Columbia Academy in a season ending defeat. "It was a tough loss, we beat ourselves, there is no other way to describe it," Forrest coach Becky Cheatham said. "They came here to take care of business, we had the target on our back and did not get the job done." -

Come the fall of 2016 Marshall County will send off another great athlete on to the college ranks when Cornersville's Carson Coble will venture one county over to join the highly esteemed Martin Methodist softball team at the small Pulaski college. Coble, who shined on both the hardwood and the diamond, has been instrumental in leading the Lady Dawgs to within striking distance of a number two seed in the upcoming district tournament and has been on the field for over 50 Cornersville wins during her five-year playing career. -
