Nichirin halts A-Plus in rain-shortened contest (Community Sports ~ 06/03/16)
After back-to-back losses, Nichirin (3-2) came up with a 5-1 win over A-Plus Wednesday night with the help of a great pitching performance by Carson Stacey and Mother Nature, who washed out the contest after the fifth inning. Stacey went the distance on the hill for Nichirin, giving up one run on four hits, while striking out seven and walking zero A-Plus batters. -
Farm Center opens with forfeit win (Community Sports ~ 06/03/16)
It is not the way the defending Marshall County Babe Ruth League champions wanted to open the season Tuesday night at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Field at Lewisburg. The 2015 Farm Center of Chapel Hill champs played the Columbia Deli Dawgs to a 3-3 tie, heading to the top of the seventh inning when Columbia decided not to continue, giving Chapel Hill a 7-0 forfeit win according to Babe Ruth league rules. -
Powerful Elks' offense too much for MMC (Community Sports ~ 06/03/16)
he Elks (5-0) remained undefeated in Marshall County Babe Ruth league play via a 10-6 win over Marshall Medical Center (MMC) Tuesday night at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field at Lewisburg. The Elks banged out 11 hits in the contest with Devin Aydelott leading the way with a perfect 3-for-3 night at the plate. Preston Shelton, Walker Whaley and Grayson Whaley chipped in with two hits apiece for the orange and black. Chase "Duke" Karczewski had three hits in three at bats with a pair of triples and two RBI for MMC (3-2). -
Cooksey signs with Motlow (College Sports ~ 06/03/16)
A good way to judge the success of a particular sports program is to look at how many players the team sends to play college ball after four years of being in a system. Cornersville softball then, should be considered extremely successful with the signing of Miranda Cooksey to Motlow State, as two of the Lady Dawgs three senior players (Carson Coble- Martin Methodist) have now signed to extend their playing careers on the college level.
