SCTDD Golf Tournament results (Community Sports ~ 06/17/16)
he South Central Tennessee Development District (SCTDD), serving 13 Tennessee counties in its mission to advocate and promote economic and community development within the region held its annual four-man scramble golf tournament at Henry Horton State Park on Thursday. The C&S Plastics team of Lewisburg golfers Guy Chambers, Joe Liggett, Terry Wallace and Buddy Wiles scorched the 6,325-yard Buford Ellington tract, shooting a 17-under par round of 55 that tied them with last year's winning team of Danny Davis, Jay Blackwell, Tony Clanton and Sterling Smith. -
Bomb Squad on the move (Community Sports ~ 06/17/16)
The Marshall County Bomb Squad 11U Travel Team played in the USSSA State Tournament on June 11 and 12 at Grassland Park in Franklin, battling through the heat to the championship game where they brought home a silver championship trophy. The Bomb Squad is looking forward to a trip to Biloxi, MS in July. -
FOHH golf tournament funds many projects (Community Sports ~ 06/17/16)
The Friends of Henry Horton State Park (FOHH) have been busy bees as usual in its effort to maintain, beautify, restore historic landmarks and make the park more accessible to the public. In order to fund the projects for the organization, the FOHH hosts its annual golf tournament at the Buford Ellington Golf Course inside Henry Horton State Park. -
Errors doom Elks in late loss to A-Plus (Local News ~ 06/17/16)
even errors in the field will cost a team a loss and that's what happened Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field in Lewisburg as the Elks fell 7-6 to A-Plus Collision Center. Raymond Cooksey battled hard on the mound for the Elks, going all seven innings in a game he should have been the winning pitcher, instead he became the tough luck loser. -
Farm Center routs Elks 19-3 (Community Sports ~ 06/17/16)
The Elks had one last chance to put a kink in the Farm Center of Chapel Hill's run to capture back-to-back Marshall County Babe Ruth League titles Tuesday night, but there was no slowing the train down as the defending champs routed the perennial power 19-3 in four innings. The Farm Center (7-1) needs one win to clinch the title Monday in its doubleheader versus second place Nichirin, which stands at 5-3 on the season.
