Summertown win knocks Bulldogs from 1st to 4th (High School Sports ~ 10/12/16)
Major playoff implications were on the line Friday night in southern Marshall County when two of Region 4-1A's biggest surprises went head-to-head when Summertown (7-1, 5-1) made the trip from Lawrence County to take on Cornersville (4-3, 4-1), who was riding its first four-game winning streak in over 20 years coming into the game. -
FMS blanks Raiders, earns DRVC title shot (High School Sports ~ 10/12/16)
The FMS Rockets took care of their last roadblock in the way of back-to-back Duck River Valley Conference titles Thursday night at Moore County, shutting out the Raiders 37-0 in a dominating performance. "It was a total team win and great effort by our guys, FMS coach Corey Searcy said. "We had a great week of practice and we took care of business in Lynchburg. This team is fun to be around and I have enjoyed every day with them." -
Unbeaten Rockets halt Indians 35-0 (High School Sports ~ 10/12/16)
There was no rust, no looking ahead and no competition for Forrest in Friday's senior night matchup at Murrey E. Holton Memorial Field versus East Robertson as the undefeated Rockets (8-0, 5-0) posted a 35-0 win shutout over the Cross Plains Indians (2-5, 1-3). "We had a bad week of practice, we didn't practice well Monday and Tuesday and then the injury bug hit on Tuesday," Forrest coach Brent Johns said. "The goal was to get a win and we did that."
