Eagleville flies over Lady Bulldogs in opener (High School Sports ~ 11/18/16)
Big things are expected from the Lady Bulldogs after nearly winning the district title in 2015-16 with a 10-4 record and advancing to region tournament before falling to state tournament qualifier Perry County to end the season. Cornersville, which returns four starters and the first five off the bench for the 2016-17 season traveled to Eagleville Tuesday night to try and forget the 0-6 start of the previous season, but despite cutting a big, early Lady Eagles' lead to eight points heading into the final frame, the maroon and white went cold from the field en route to a 44-23 loss. -
Eagles hand Bulldogs season opening defeat (High School Sports ~ 11/18/16)
The Cornersville boys traveled to Eagleville on Tuesday night to kick off the season in a Hall of Champions game, looking to bounce back after a 1-22 season in 2015-16 with a new coach Matt Hagan at the helm. Eagleville also looked to build on a less than stellar 2015-16 season that ended with a loss in the first round of the district tournament and a 12-13 record. Cornersville proved that the rebuilding process could be a long road as the Eagles jumped out to 53-18 halftime lead and ultimately won going away 77-46, but coach Hagan was able to find a few bright spots in the tough opening loss. -
McWilliams finalist for Mr. Football (High School Sports ~ 11/18/16)
Marshall County High School senior Cain McWilliams was named as a finalist for the 2016 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Class 4A Lineman of the Year Award Tuesday by the TSSAA. McWilliams and the Tigers (11-1) host Spring Hill (7-5) Friday night at Preston Hopkins Field in Lewisburg in a Class 4A quarterfinal contest. -
Rockets in uncharted territory (High School Sports ~ 11/18/16)
It's late eight time on the gridiron this week as the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association's quarterfinal round commences Friday night and the Forrest Rockets are on board for the first time in the school's history. Tigers taking nothing for granted (High School Sports ~ 11/18/16)
Marshall County faces another large challenge Friday night when the Tigers (11-1) will have to beat a Spring Hill (7-5) team for the second time this season if they want to advance to the semifinals. The Tigers beat the Raiders 49-12 on October 14 at Spring Hill.
