FMS sweeps MTCS in home twin bill (High School Sports ~ 11/30/16)
The FMS basketball teams picked up where they left off before the Thanksgiving holiday break, staying on their winning ways with a sweep over MTCS Monday night at Chapel Hill. The Lady Rockets (15-0) demolished the Lady Cougars 31-13 to remain unbeaten on the season, while the Rockets (7-8) moved closer to the .500 mark with a tough 41-35 win over the Cougars. -
Lady Rockets sweep Thanksgiving classic (High School Sports ~ 11/30/16)
The Forrest Lady Rockets turned some heads around the mid-state on Wednesday night not just by beating 3A powerhouse Dickson County, but by beating the Lady Cougars soundly by eight points in a game Forrest led for the majority of the second half. The Lady Rockets (3-1), plagued by inconsistencies during last season's disappointing 18-15 campaign, beat a Dickson County (4-1) team 63-55 that finished 2015-16 in the 3A state quarterfinals with a 29-4 record. -
Steely returns to guide Tigerettes (High School Sports ~ 11/30/16)
he Marshall County Tigerettes are 3-1, yes you heard it right, 3-1. Lewisburg had not started off with that record since the 2009 season and the two wins is double what they won all of last year. The storied program that holds four state titles with the last coming in 2007-2008 had fallen on hard times, suffering six seasons without a winning record. David Steely, the coach of the 2007-2008 Class AA title team couldn't take it anymore and has returned to the bench with his father Donald by his side with hopes of guiding the program back to prominence. -
Tigers suffer tough semifinal loss (High School Sports ~ 11/30/16)
A second straight magical season came to a close Friday night at Lewisburg in heart breaking fashion as the Tigers lost a close 31-24 contest to upstart Knoxville Central after taking a 21-3 lead early on. The Tigers jumped out to a 21-3 lead before the Bobcats closed the gap to 24-17 at halftime. -

McWilliams finishes second at Mr. Football ceremony (High School Sports ~ 11/30/16)
Marshall County High School senior Cain McWilliams' only year on the Tigers' squad turned into a huge success as the MTSU signee was named as the 2016 Tennessee Titans Class 4A Mr. Football Lineman of the Year runner-up at the ceremony Monday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. "It was an honor to be named a finalist for Mr. Football and I'm just blessed to be up there with those guys, I just came up a little bit short," McWilliams said.
