espite losing a grueling one-point overtime loss at bitter rival Giles County Friday night, the Marshall County Tigers were back in action Saturday afternoon against an even tougher opponent in the Manassas Tigers out of Memphis in the Showdown in the South at Whites Creek High School in north Nashville. The Showdown in the South pits a high-quality team from Middle Tennessee against a traditional power from West Tennessee over four games across Saturday afternoon. -

Tigerettes drop fourth straight (High School Sports ~ 12/16/16)
The MCHS Tigerettes faced a tall task to open up the 2016-17 district schedule with a trip to Pulaski to face longtime rival Giles County (6-4, 1-0), who came into Friday's game on a three game winning streak. The last time Marshall County (3-5, 0-1) came to Giles County the Tigerettes were embarrassed in a 62-point loss in which the blue and white scored just 11 total points during a one-win season. -
FMS Rockets falter late, fall to Cascade (High School Sports ~ 12/16/16)
The FMS Rockets took much of the season to fight back to the .500 mark and wanted to finish up at 9-7 for the Duck River Valley Conference (DRVC) regular season slate on Thursday night at Chapel Hill versus Cascade. It was a great game. Chapel Hill fell into an early 8-2 hole before storming back to take the lead via a 9-2 run that was capped off on a CJ Sanchez rebound and put-back that gave the Rockets an 11-10 lead with just over a minute to go in the first quarter. -
FMS Lady Rockets cap off undefeated regular season (High School Sports ~ 12/16/16)
The FMS Lady Rockets knew coming into Thursday night's game versus Cascade that keeping their undefeated mark for the season would be a tough task versus a Lady Champions squad that had taking them to the limit on November 3 in a one-point win at Wartrace. And it played out that way as the contest was nip and tuck the entire way to the final horn with the Lady Rockets eking out a 34-30 win to move to 18-0 on the year and an undefeated regular season Duck River Valley Conference record. -

The Forrest Rockets (1-10, 0-3) are in the basement of the District 9A standings after suffering their seventh consecutive loss Friday night via a 49-37 defeat at the hands of the Community Vikings (3-6, 2-0) at Chapel Hill. The Rockets actually held a 4-3 first quarter lead after a Jacob Rich bucket before things went downhill fast as Unionville went on a 10-4 run to end the period with a 14-8 lead. -
FMS Lady Rockets capture DRVC win (High School Sports ~ 12/16/16)
After completing an undefeated regular season on Thursday, the FMS Lady Rockets made it 19 wins in a row via a 37-24 triumph over Liberty in the second round of the Duck River Valley Conference Tournament at Chapel Hill Monday night. The defending DRVC Tournament champions Lady Rockets (19-0) take on Community (11-8) in the semifinals at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Cascade. -
Yost hurt, Lady Rockets still roll over Viqueens (High School Sports ~ 12/16/16)
On the night she was honored for scoring her 2,000 point and becoming Forrest's all-time leading scorer, Caitlyn Yost did not play due to a wrist injury that will keep her out until sometime in January. "Losing Yost affects us because she has been on the floor for four years for me," Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. "She knows what I want in certain situations, so without her it has to be a collective effort to step up our game." Yost's Forrest teammates picked her up in big way Friday night, beating the Community Viqueens 56-44 at Chapel Hill to claim their ninth win in a row after an opening season loss to Lincoln County. -
