Tigers take down CAK in Battle of Franklin (High School Sports ~ 01/06/17)
The Tigers traveled to Franklin for the inaugural Battle of Franklin Tournament at Battle Ground Academy and faced a tough competitor in Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) in the first round of the winner take all tournament. CAK, who joined Marshall County in last season's 2A state tournament came into the contest with a 6-7 record and were looking for a signature win before heading back into the District 4AA schedule. -
Bulldogs fall to Unionville in Christmas tournament (High School Sports ~ 01/06/17)
After winning two district games by a total of 114 points, the Cornersville Bulldogs have fallen on hard times by losing two conference games by 94 points and the future looked gloomy when CHS (2-6) played Community (6-8) in the Richland Christmas Classic. From the start of the contest the Bulldogs looked outmatched, going down 30-7 before ultimately losing 62-45 to the Vikings. -
Lady Bulldogs defeat Spring Hill (High School Sports ~ 01/06/17)
The Cornersville (5-4) Lady Bulldogs team entered the Richland Christmas Tournament winning four out of five games but the loss, a 14-point setback against district foe Mount Pleasant weighed heavily on the teams mind heading into the opening game against Spring Hill (0-9). "They don't have any wins, but you have to look at who they have played and they've played some quality competition," CHS coach Peyton Newton said. "So we knew we had to come in and we talked about it after Mount Pleasant, we had to be on our game, do our stuff." -

Walker named to All-Ivy League squad (College Sports ~ 01/06/17)
When the two running backs before Chris Walker on the depth chart went down with injuries during the Marshall County natives' freshman year at Cornell University, Walker was thrown into action and immediately made an impact on the field, gaining 53 yards on 11 carries in three games before a concussion ended his year prematurely. After taking some much needed time to heal Walker was back on the field, producing a first team All-Ivy League season with over 900 all-purpose yards. -
