Tigerettes’ healthy list shrinking (High School Sports ~ 02/12/17)
The Marshall County Tigerettes traveled shorthanded to Page Tuesday night for an important District 12AA contest and the lack of depth cost Lewisburg in a 43-21 defeat. Starting guard Demariae Ingram suffered a broken collarbone at Spring Hill last week and forward Sydne Solomon injured her knee. Both players are out for the remainder of the basketball season, but Solomon is hopeful to come back for the start of the softball season in April. “It’s a big adjustment for us and it’s going to hurt,” Marshall County coach David Steely said. “But people have to step up and play a little better.” Without the two players, Steely was forced to mix some roles up on the team and Page took advantage of Marshall County’s misfortune to claim the Senior Night win at Rudderville. -
Bulldogs fall to Eagles in regular season finale (High School Sports ~ 02/12/17)
The Cornersville Bulldogs closed the regular season the same way it started the 2016-17 campaign--with a matchup against future district opponent Eagleville. And unlike the first game in which the Bulldogs found themselves down 53-18 at halftime, Cornersville played close with the Eagles for the majority of the game, but could not overcome Eagleville's depth and experience in a 74-53 loss. -
Eagleville sweeps Lady Bulldogs (High School Sports ~ 02/12/17)
The Lady Bulldogs had once last chance to sharpen its craft before the district tournament on Tuesday night when Eagleville came calling to southern Marshall County. Cornersville (12-10) had a great opportunity to evaluate how far it had come since the Lady Bulldogs opened the season against Eagleville (13-13) in a game that saw the Lady Bulldogs finish the contest with its second lowest scoring total of the season at 23. -
Tigers beat Page, clinch second place in 12AA (High School Sports ~ 02/12/17)
The up and down Marshall County Tigers have found a late season groove after traveling to Page Tuesday night where they won their third game in a row with a tough 73-63 win over the Patriots. The outcome was huge for the Tigers, who clinched the second seed in the upcoming District 12AA Tournament that begins on Thursday, February 16 when Marshall County will host a first round satellite game... -
Forrest’s Colvin signs with UAH soccer (High School Sports ~ 02/12/17)
On Wednesday at Chapel Hill, Forrest’s Brynn Colvin officially signed a Letter of Intent to play soccer next season at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. “I’m looking forward to it,” Colvin said. “They have a great team and a great coach, so it just works out really great for me.” Colvin was a five-year member of the Lady Rockets’ soccer team, playing on the team as an eighth-grader.
