Packing Without a Wrinkle
(Features ~ 03/15/17)
Dear Heloise: I travel a lot for business, and this is the best way I’ve found to PACK MY CLOTHES. I use the plastic dry-cleaner bags to put my clothes in first, then fold them neatly. Rolling works, but I like to fold my dress shirts and pants. The plastic bag makes a little air pocket and helps prevent wrinkles. -- Herb B. in Los Angeles...

Rigging to long-line for crappie (Outdoors ~ 03/15/17)
Seems like every time I go to the lake I hear someone say they wish they knew how to troll for crappie. Trolling, be that with jigs or crankbaits, is the most effective way to catch crappie for most of the year. The exception is when they are on the beds in very shallow water, otherwise it is a deadly technique... -

Honest to God!
(Column ~ 03/15/17)
“That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, who is the head, even Christ:” - Ephesians 4:14,15...

Truth will set you free, but only if the media report it (Editorial ~ 03/15/17)
I’ve often said media bias is not what they tell you, it’s what they don’t. There’s no truer example than the Trumptap scandal. After President Trump tweeted that he’d been wiretapped by the Obama administration, the mainstream media had a meltdown. The same media that had been beating the drum of an unfounded Russia conspiracy derided Trump’s claim as “false” and “baseless.” The scary part is they all knew that it wasn’t... -
Let’s applaud history’s greatest teenagers
(Editorial ~ 03/15/17)
Help! There’s suddenly a teenager in the Tyree house! Yes, my son Gideon just turned 13. He’s a good kid with a bright future, but sometimes the inevitable “attitude” shows up. I know that many teenagers are creative, hardworking and respectful of their elders; but I still have worries about the coming years. Teens have always faced a mountain of changes, responsibilities and temptations – and the pace is only accelerating...

Little merit in Trump’s latest immigration view (Editorial ~ 03/15/17)
Just because a policy invokes the word “merit” does not make it meritorious. Donald Trump’s call Tuesday night for a “merit-based” immigration system is not new; indeed, it is already part of our immigration law. It’s been promoted for years by some Republicans, Democrats and, most notably, employers in Silicon Valley... -

Poor internet and weak cell phone service a way of life in Marshall County (Local News ~ 03/15/17)
By Jay Langston Editor Right now, there’s someone in rural Marshall County, Tenn., who is watching their ISP’s monthly data allowance like the fuel gauge on their car, while someone else walks out on their front porch searching for a cell phone signal to make a call. Another crazy week for Trump v. Washington (Editorial ~ 03/15/17)
One by one, Trump is working on the campaign promises that got him elected: tightening our borders, working on cutting taxes, overturning Obama’s executive orders on regulations, fixing ObamaCare, appointing one of the right-of-center judges on his list for the Supreme Court, etc. He has Washington, D.C. politicians on both sides in a tizzy. They just can’t figure this guy out; they are not used to someone who keeps his campaign promises... -
Democrats, psychological projection and Russia
(Editorial ~ 03/15/17)

Thank goodness St. Patrick’s Day is upon us. Our country is in need of some Irish humor about now. With all the vitriol in our politics these days, we could use more brotherly love - which reminds me of the joke about McAlister. One Saturday night, he ordered three pints at the pub. ... -
