Tigers battle to draw at Cascade (High School Sports ~ 05/03/17)
Two red hot soccer teams met on a chilly, windy Spring night as Marshall County traveled to Cascade for a game that decided fourth place in District 12 A/AA. The Tigers, winners of six-of-seven games, including an upset win over third place Nolensville on Friday, met a Champions team that had won three games in a row. The Tigers held a 1-0 lead for the majority of the contest and dominated shots on goal, but couldn't add to its lead before the Champions tied the game with less than 10 minutes left in the second half to garner a 1-1 draw. -
Gibbs breaks Forrest win streak (High School Sports ~ 05/03/17)
After sweeping host Coffee County and Covington Friday night to get to the 30-win mark on the season, the illness ridden Forrest Lady Rockets dropped two games on Saturday at the Coffee County Classic in Manchester. “The tournament should have helped us realize that we can be beaten when we don't play well,” Forrest coach Becky Cheatham said. “As I told the girls, I believe coaches and players were all disappointed, but if we use Saturday to motivate us going forward, then we should benefit from being there.” -
Woodward holds Lady Bulldogs in check (High School Sports ~ 05/03/17)
The Marshall County Tigerettes notched their fifth straight win in the intra-county rivalry series with Cornersville, beating the Lady Bulldogs 5-2 Thursday night at Frog Bottom. “It was a huge ballgame, you could tell there was a lot of pride there,” MCHS coach Heather Denton said. “They wanted to win that game and you tell with all the tension in the stands, everybody was in the game and everyone wanted their team to win.” -
King shuts down Huntland in spirited fight (High School Sports ~ 05/03/17)
Sometimes, those big games just don’t turn out to be as exciting as anticipated. That was not the case Monday night at the Field of Dreams when the Lady Hornets travelled to Chapel Hill for a re-match of a highly confrontational game won by Forrest 3-2 at Huntland on April, 20. The Lady Rockets, coming off back-to-back losses on Saturday in the Coffee County Classic were ready as always and played one of their best games of the season in a 4-1 win over the Lady Hornets. -
Tigerettes complete sweep over Cornersville By Mike Inglsbee (High School Sports ~ 05/03/17)
Anytime two schools that are located less than 10 miles apart get together in any sport the competition is stiff. But Friday night, two historically superior softball squads went head-to-head as Cornersville (12-5) and Marshall County (9-15) squared off for the second night in a row in Lewisburg with the Tigerettes coming out on top in an anticlimactic 12-3 win. -
Gentry, Tigers dominate on Senior Night (High School Sports ~ 05/03/17)
After dropping a disappointing 13-9 contest at home versus Lewis County on Tuesday, the Marshall County Tigers were back in action two days later to play host to 3A Coffee County with the regular season winding down. While the Tigers could not muster much offense against the Panthers on Tuesday, the blue and white jumped all over the Raiders from the get-go, taking a 7-1 lead after three innings and used the dominant pitching from senior Brayden Gentry to maintain same final score. -
