Tigerettes shutout in regular season finale (High School Sports ~ 05/05/17)
All good things must come to an end and for the Tigerettes that meant a 4-0 loss to Page (15-9-1, 8-3) to end the regular season and put a halt to Marshall County's five-game winning streak. Base runners were at a premium for Marshall County (10-16, 4-8), as the Tigerettes managed only one hit against Page senior pitcher Kacie Scott and just one other batter reached on a Lady Patriots’ error. -
Gentry signs with Motlow State baseball (High School Sports ~ 05/05/17)
Marshall County High School continued its long tradition of sending players into the college ranks last week when senior pitcher Brayden Gentry signed on the dotted line to play baseball at Motlow State Community College in the 2018 season. "We have been very successful at getting players ready to play at the next level in the past 40 years," Tiger coach Mike "Monk" Reese stated. "I have forgotten how many players have played at the next level, but there have been many." Gentry, who was also recruited by Middle Tennessee State University and the University of North Alabama, stood out in a district loaded with talent and which produced last season’s 2A state champion (Spring Hill) and state runner-up (CPA) while helping the Tigers win over 58 games over the past four seasons. -
Jent rules mound on Forrest Senior Night (High School Sports ~ 05/05/17)
Forrest senior hurler Jordan Jent picked up his fifth win of the season against one loss when he tossed six superb shutout innings of one-hit ball on the mound in an 8-0 win over Cascade on Tuesday’s Senior Night at Chapel Hill. “It was a big senior night for us and these seniors are a great group of kids and they have worked hard all season and this was their night to shine and they did with the big 8-0 victory,” Forrest coach Bart Joyce said. “It was a great night for them, I’m happy for them, I’m proud of them and we just want to carry this on to the end of the week here.” -
