NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Ryan Johansen celebrated his game-winning goal with a windmill fist pump, and the Nashville Predators finished off the rest of a thrilling third period with the standing-room only crowd on their feet anticipating history. Yes, the team that plays in a place called "Smashville" is going someplace the Predators have never been before: The Western Conference final. Johansen scored 3:15 into the third, and the Predators advanced to the conference finals in their fourth try by beating the St. Louis Blues 3-1 to take the series in six games.

Protesters are Environmental Hypocrites (Editorial ~ 05/08/17)
Few things pollute the earth more than when leftists gather to protest. Let’s reminisce for old time’s sake. Leftists described the 2011 Occupy Movement as a breath of fresh air, although movement trash rats deposited their bowel movements on police cars and Zuccotti Park doorsteps. They also left tons of foul rubbish on streets. Democrats are all about handouts, so maybe they should have handed out doggie doo bags... -
Michael M. Owen (Obituary ~ 05/08/17)
Michael M. Owen, age 69, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at The Bridge of Monteagle Center, Monteagle, TN. He was born in Nashville, TN on October 20, 1947, to the late Alton Johnson and the late Elizabeth Murdock Owen. Mr. Owen was retired from AVCO and was of the Baptist Faith. He loved fishing and farming. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Owen, Murfreesboro, TN; two daughters, Emily Rae Burns, Chapel Hill, TN, Sherry Ann (PJ) Pratt, Murfreesboro, TN; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be held with the family on Monday, May 8, 2017, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be again on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour. The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home with Phillip Robinson of New Vision Baptist Church of Murfreesboro, TN officiating. Burial will follow in Talley Cemetery. The grandchildren and a son-in-law will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Suite 220, Nashville, TN 37220. Emily Ann Sharp Metcalf (Obituary ~ 05/08/17)
Emily Ann Sharp Metcalf, age 71, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, May 7, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Metcalf was a native of Marshall County, TN and daughter of the late Albert L. and Georgiana Rambo Sharp. She was retired from CKNA, a member of the Verona Methodist Church, and a 1964 graduate of Marshall County High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brooksie Pugh; three brothers, Bob Sharp, Albert Sharp, and Oscar Sharp. She is survived by her husband, Shirley Phillip Metcalf of Lewisburg; daughter, Diane (Wayne) Beaty of Lewisburg; three sons, Joey (Michelle) Crowell of Cornersville; Troy (Laurie) Crowell of Cornersville; and William (Crystal) Metcalf of Lewisburg; and brother, Bill (Judy) Sharp of Elgin, IL.; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews survive. The family will be at the funeral home for visitation on Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home with burial to follow in Berea Cemetery. London Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
