The Forrest Rockets (23-12-1) reached the end of the line to another successful baseball season as they lost 5-3 to Summertown in a Class A sectional game Friday night at Chapel Hill. “We just couldn’t get that last chip, we couldn’t get a hit here and there,” Forrest coach Bart Joyce said. “I told the boys there is nothing you did wrong, it’s just a great ball team that beat a great ball team.” “I’m super proud of the way these kids played and their effort all year, they really showed out this year.” -

For the second time in as many seasons the Forrest Lady Rockets and Columbia Academy Lady Bulldogs squared off in Columbia for a chance to claim a sectional victory and advance to the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association’s Spring Fling State Championships at Murfreesboro. Lady Bulldog pitcher Brittany Adair gave up a minuscule four hits over seven innings to the Lady Rockets, but Forrest senior pitcher Samantha King ruled the sophomore ace in the circle by giving up just one hit, while racking up a game-high nine strikeouts for the complete game 4-0 win. -

Forrest notches opening round state tournament win (High School Sports ~ 05/24/17)
After winning the Class A state title two years ago, the Forrest Lady Rockets suffered back-to-back losses last season to make an early exit from the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association’s Spring Fling Championships. Not at this year’s 24th annual gathering that also includes baseball, soccer, tennis, and track and field. Forrest opened this year’s tournament versus Whitwell and took down the Lady Tigers from Marion County 5-1 behind a strong pitching performance from Samantha King and some timely hitting when they needed it. -
