13-year old all-stars fall at Lebanon (Community Sports ~ 07/19/17)
The Marshall County 13-year old all-stars travelled to Lebanon for the East Tennessee State Tournament and went 1-2 to end its postseason run. Marshall County lost 3-2 to Lawrenceburg in the opening round Thursday night before bouncing back with a big 10-2 win over Giles County on Friday. On Saturday, Marshall County and Lawrenceburg met again and this time the score was not close as Lawrenceburg’s Ayden Luffman tossed a three-hitter and struck out seven in a 13-0 shutout win over Marshall County. -

The Marshall County 15 year-old all-stars continued its postseason tear on Sunday with a 16-3 victory over Lebanon in the title game of the East Tennessee State Tournament and in turn afforded itself the unique opportunity to become the first boys’ team from Marshall County to play in a Babe Ruth World Series. The only other Marshall County team to make a World Series appearance was the Danny Hollingsworth coached 12U girls’ squad that finished in third place at Alachua, Fla. in 2012. The drama was scarce on Sunday at the Jonathon D. Hollingsworth Memorial Field in Lewisburg as Marshall County jumped out to an 8-0 first inning lead and made history with an easy 16-3 win to win the state title and advance to the Southeast Regional Tournament in Greenville, NC next week. -
All-stars beat Bellevue in heated contest (Community Sports ~ 07/19/17)
The Marshall County 15-year old all-stars had a first round bye in the East Tennessee Babe Ruth State Tournament as Bellevue beat Lebanon 6-4 in Friday night’s opening round at the Jonathon D. Hollingsworth Field in Lewisburg. On Saturday night, the hosts took on Bellevue and came away with a big 9-1 win that was full of drama, mostly of the non-baseball variety. Marshall County took care of the on the field drama early, scoring one run in the first inning, three in the second, and one more in the fourth to open up a 5-1 lead. -
