Lady Patriots blank Tigerettes (High School Sports ~ 08/30/17)
Despite competing in the same district for over a decade the Tigerettes and Page have not met in a regular season or tournament match since losing to the Patriots 8-0 in the 2012 district tournament. In fact, the last time Marshall County (0-3,0-2) even managed a goal versus Page (2-3, 2-0) was during a 5-1 regular season loss during the 2010 regular season and MCHS has been outscored 51-1 in the past decade against the Patriots before Thursday night’s matchup in Rudderville. -
FMS Rockets crush Cascade with first-half effort (High School Sports ~ 08/30/17)
After a disappointing 28-6 loss at Fayetteville on August 17, the FMS Rockets (2-1) posted the identical score the other way versus Cascade on Thursday night in Chapel Hill. “Last week we felt like we left a lot down there in Fayetteville, we didn’t play up to our potential and made a lot of mistakes,” FMS coach Corey Searcy said. “We are getting better one game at a time and that is the goal for us.” The Rockets struck early and struck often in the first half, scoring a pair of touchdowns in each of the first two quarters to put the Champions in a hole they would never dig out of. -
Rockets can’t take too much Moore (High School Sports ~ 08/30/17)
In the end, Fayetteville senior Brandon Moore was too much for Forrest to handle as the standout Tiger running back wore the Rockets down in a 27-14 non-region loss Friday night at Murrey E. Holton Field in Chapel Hill. “We knew they were a good football team and we knew 22 (Moore) was going to get his,” Forrest coach Brent Johns said. “We needed to bottle him up and in the second half, we didn’t.” Knowing it didn’t help as Forrest could not stop Moore, who rushed for 208 yards on 25 carries with two touchdown runs, including an 86-yard third quarter scamper. -
Bulldogs fall at Eagleville (High School Sports ~ 08/30/17)
The Cornersville Bulldogs were a mere four points away from starting the 2016 season out 6-0 after two last minute, heartbreaking losses (Mount Juliet Christian three points, Collinwood one point) in back-to-back games. The element of surprise is not an option for the Bulldogs (1-1) in 2017 as the program has been a fashionable preseason pick to win its first ever region championship and has quickly gone from being the hunter to the hunted. -
Tigers roar back over Golden Eagles (High School Sports ~ 08/30/17)
The Marshall County Tigers righted the ship in a hurry after an opening season loss to Cane Ridge, walloping Shelbyville Central 51-27 Friday night at Preston Hopkins Field in Lewisburg. “Winning is hard and something we are never going to take for granted,” Marshall County coach Thomas Osteen said. “So we are no doubt going to enjoy every win that we get because we work too hard not to.” The Tigers and the Golden Eagles put on an offensive display as the two teams combined for 815 yards of total offense. -

Leftists’ goal is to wear us down
(Editorial ~ 08/30/17)
They are trying to wear us down. Although they don’t understand anything about those with whom they are dealing. Trump the future Democrat? (Editorial ~ 08/30/17)
President Trump keeps making me look good. Last week we repeated the sound advice we’ve frequently given him but which he regularly refuses to take - know when to shut up and listen to your staff. This week he sabotaged himself yet again. He totally wasted about 95 percent of the generally favorable media coverage and bipartisan huzzahs he got for his Afghanistan policy speech on Monday night... -
