Rockets bounce back versus Vikings (High School Sports ~ 02/07/18)
After a tough loss at Marshall County on Friday night, the resilient Forrest Rockets bounced back with a 50-46 win over Perry County in Saturday night’s Homecoming matchup at Chapel Hill. “That was a great effort by the boys tonight,” Forrest coach Randy Toombs said. “Perry County ain’t no slouch, they will come in here and play you hard.” The Rockets just missed pulling off another comeback at Lewisburg Friday night and it was not easy getting back up for the struggling Vikings, who had lost five out of their last six games. -
Lady Rockets get revenge on Perry County (High School Sports ~ 02/07/18)
It was a long wait, but the Forrest Lady Rockets got some measure of revenge in Saturday’s Homecoming game at Chapel Hill, beating Perry County 43-34 in a non-region matchup. “I thought we played well the whole game,” Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. “We were a little flat coming out of the gate, but I think that is because we had two emotional games this week already.” -
Forrest pulls off comeback win at Lewisburg (High School Sports ~ 02/07/18)
The Marshall County Tigerettes held Forrest to eight first half points, but could not put the Lady Rockets away and it cost them in a tough 34-30 loss. “They never quit, they kept believing and kept plugging away,” Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. “Before the game I told them, it’s gonna be packed and it shouldn’t have bothered us, but it did early.” Marshall County’s Kelsey Keiler, who led all scorers in the contest with 16 points, kicked off the game with a drive to the hoop and two Claire Woods’ free throws made it 4-0. -
Tigers tied for the top after win over Forrest (High School Sports ~ 02/07/18)
The Marshall County Tigers got some sweet revenge Friday night, beating Forrest 79-68 at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg. The win over the Rockets put the intra-county rivals in a dead heat atop the District 12-AA standings as both teams have lost to each other and to Murfreesboro Central Magnet, who sit in fourth place. The Tigers also made it five district wins in a row after going 1-2 in their first two. -
Foles outduels Brady to give Eagles their first Super Bowl (Professional Sports ~ 02/07/18)
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Nick Foles did his best Tom Brady impersonation, leading a late-game comeback to cap a season that began as a backup and ended as Super Bowl MVP. Foles' journey mirrored Brady's 16 years ago and ended late Sunday night, with green-and-white confetti falling as delirious Philadelphia Eagles fans celebrated their first NFL title since 1960.
