FMS Lady Rockets handed exit from DRVC Tournament (High School Sports ~ 12/12/18)
After demolishing Liberty 48-12 in the opening round of the Duck River Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday at Eagleville, the Forrest Middle School Lady Rockets went into a deep scoring freeze on Monday against number-one seeded Huntland. Forrest scored five points in the first half and only 10 more in the second half as they were eliminated by the Lady Hornets 32-15. Logan Mclennan was the lone player in double figures in the contest as the Huntland standout netted 12 points, including three 3-pointers. Anilee Dippold had a team-high eight points for Forrest in the loss, while Macyn Kirby, Meagan Mealer, and Carli Warner tallied two, and Bethany Yates had one marker. -
Forrest gives Lady Eagles Summertown blues (High School Sports ~ 12/12/18)
The red-hot Forrest Lady Rockets continued their winning ways on Friday night at Chapel Hill, posting a big 48-37 signature win over the 2016-2017 Class A state runner-up Summertown Lady Eagles. Summertown (7-2) had won four consecutive games coming into the contest and three in a row over Forrest (7-1) in the annual non-conference matchup. “They (Summertown) are a well-coached team and really good defensively and they made it tough on us by getting us out of our comfort zone in the first half,” Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. “In the second half we made some big shots, that’s all it was.” -
Rockets upset Summertown in gritty effort (High School Sports ~ 12/12/18)
After a tumultuous 1-7 start to the season and coming off disappointing back-to-back one-point losses, the Forrest Rockets circled the wagons and came away with a stunning 61-55 upset over a stout Summertown team that rolled into Chapel Hill Friday night with a 6-1 record. “That was a real nice win,” Forrest coach Randy Toombs said. “Anytime you can beat Summertown period, it’s a good win, they are a good, hard playing basketball team.”
