The Forrest Lady Rockets finished their pre-district schedule with a solid 11-5 record, including a hard fought 43-27 win over Battle Ground Academy (BGA) Friday night at Chapel Hill. “The girls came out with a lot of energy and enthusiasm to play the game and that’s what we have to do to win,” Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. “If we have that type of energy and unselfishness and looking for the next person to make the shot, than we can be pretty good.” -
Blackman rolls over Tigerettes in region tourney (High School Sports ~ 01/09/19)
The Marshall County Tigerettes made their first-ever region tournament appearance on Monday and ran into a buzz saw as the Blackman Lady Blaze rolled a three-game sweep over the Lewisburg girls. “I’m super proud of this team,” MCHS assistant coach Curtis Self said. “We have three seniors who have been here since they were freshmen.” “They have worked hard and they have been the ones who have been knocked out every year in the district, so they finally got here and I’m really proud of how hard they worked and it’s a great honor to be here and to be one of the four teams left in the region.” -

The Marshall County High School girls bowling team etched its mark in the history books on Thursday at the Tenn Pin Alley in Columbia when they reached the finals of the District 8 Bowling Tournament. “They are super excited, they have worked hard all year,” MCHS assistant coach Curtis Self said. “Last year they came in as the number-one seed and they just weren’t used to that spot and faltered in the second round against Lawrence County.” “This year they came back a lot more confident, a lot more ready for the experience, and they were just ready, they were there.” -

(AP) — A federal utility that serves parts of seven southeastern states says 2018 was the wettest year on record in the Tennessee Valley.
