Lady Bulldogs drop third straight district contest (High School Sports ~ 01/16/19)
The fans of both teams of Friday night’s District 8-A matchup at Cornersville are not use to their teams being at the bottom of the standings. The Moore County Raiderettes came into the contest with an overall record of 5-13 and 1-1 in district play, while the Lady Bulldogs entered the fray with an 8-9 record and 0-2 in league games. Before the game, when asked how things were going with his team, Cornersville Coach Payton Newton said, “We’re young and growing, but improving with each game.” -
Bulldogs pull out thriller over Moore County (High School Sports ~ 01/16/19)
The nightcap of Friday night’s District 8-A matchup featured the Raiders of Moore County and the Cornersville Bulldogs with both teams sitting at the bottom of the district standings with identical 0-2 records. Both have also lost to Cascade with Moore County also losing to Fayetteville and Cornersville losing to Eagleville. Overall, the Raiders sport a record of 3-16 and the Bulldogs are 6-6. This game was a thriller as Cornersville pulled out a 41-40 win. -
Nolensville routs Rockets in district tilt (High School Sports ~ 01/16/19)
After a big win at Giles County to open district play, the Forrest Rockets stumbled at Nolensville Friday night as the Knights won in a blowout 69-37. “Wasn't much of a productive night for our guys,” Forrest coach Randy Toombs said. “Couldn't seem to get into the flow of the game and we didn't match baskets so it got us down early.” Sam Ford led the Rockets with 14 points and was the only Forrest player in double figures in the scoring column. -
Lady Knights defeat undermanned Forrest (High School Sports ~ 01/16/19)
The Forrest Lady Rockets knew it was going to be a tough task to beat Nolensville on its home floor and even more difficult without starting post player Sydney Hill, who was sidelined with an ankle injury. Hill, Forrest’s lone senior on the squad was expected to be back in the fold last night when the Lady Rockets travelled to Lewisburg. -
Rockets split home meet with Fairview and Eagleville (High School Sports ~ 01/16/19)
The Forrest Rockets entertained Fairview and Eagleville in a dual match at Chapel Hill Thursday night and came away with a split, falling to the Yellow Jackets 55-24 before coming up with a big 36-20 win over the Eagles. “It’s a good little rivalry we have with Eagleville and it was a good way to end the night with a win,” Forrest coach Chris Slaughter said. Forrest was up against the wall before the match even started versus Fairview, giving up 30 points via forfeits as they were unable to fill five weight classes. -
