Bulldogs fall at Eagleville (High School Sports ~ 09/05/19)
The Cornersville Bulldogs, seeking their first win of the 2019 season, invaded Eagleville for a matchup with the 2A Eagles. The Bulldogs showed improvement on defense, but sputtered on offense with four fumbles – two returned for scores and fell to the Eagles 27-15. “They are a well-coached team that plays hard,” Cornersville coach Gerard Randolph said before the game. “They have a really good player in Trevor Griffin. I know some of the coaches personally and we will have to do things right if we are to have success against them.” -
Big second half propels Rockets to win over Portland (High School Sports ~ 09/05/19)
The Forrest Rockets backed up a season opening win with a big 37-22 triumph over Portland Friday night at the Murrey E. Holton Memorial Field in Chapel Hill. Both teams combined for 43 first half points before the Rockets’ defense pitched a second half shutout. “It was an awesome win for us, it was a great team win,” Forrest coach Eli Stephenson said. “We came out after the second half down a little bit, but the fourth quarter we got two big scores and shut them out and that was huge.” -
Tigers clip Falcons, move to 2-0 (High School Sports ~ 09/05/19)
Despite the two schools being separated by just 26 miles, Lincoln County (0-2) traveled to Marshall County (2-0) for the first time in 40 years on Friday night. And despite the dormancy between the last time the two teams met, the Falcons arrived to a jam packed Preston Hopkins Field for the Tigers home opener and emotions were high as the Marshall County players wanted to win one for their coach against his alma mater and the entire home side showed out as the Tigers honored special teams coach Tony Johnson, who passed away from a longtime illness shortly before the season got started. -
Horton Friends receive grant (Local News ~ 09/05/19)
Photo submitted The Friends of Henry Horton State Park received a $10,000 grant at the 2019 GM Community Grant Program from General Motors Spring Hill. One of 10 groups to receive a grant, FOHHSP will use the funds for its Duck River Education program, which offers 5th graders in Marshall County and throughout the Duck River watershed a day at Henry Horton learning about the importance of the river to the region... -
LFD fights landfill fire over holiday

Some residents of Lewisburg woke up Monday morning with a Code Red message from a fire overnight. The Lewisburg Fire Department arrived at the Cedar Ridge landfill just after 10 p.m. on Sunday night after reports of smoke at the facility.
