Patriots amongst us (High School Sports ~ 12/23/19)
I’ve seen the sacrifices of war, the uncertainty, trepidation, loneliness, and longing for a loved one to return home from battle and felt the bitter pain of losing a hero soldier. My father served in United States Navy in World War II, my two eldest brothers served in the Vietnam War at the same time, and my third brother served in the US Navy aboard the USS Nimitz supercarrier that left port in Norfolk, VA on January 2, 1989 and did not return to land until June 30 after an attempt to free the hostages in Iran.
