The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs hosted the Huntland Lady Hornets in the District 8-A opener for both squads on a rainy Friday night in Cornersville. The Lady Hornets, paced by 22 points from freshman Ashlyn Danley, easily handled the young Lady Bulldogs 59-23. The Cornersville Bulldogs opened up District 8-A play hosting the Huntland Hornets in Friday night’s second game at Cornersville. The Hornets got balanced scoring from four of their five starters, who tallied in double figures as Huntland rolled to an 81-51victory over the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs (2-12) were led in scoring by Mason Calahan and Bryce Woodard, who scored nine points apiece. -

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs were trying to snap a seven-game losing streak against District 8-A foe Cascade Lady Champs, who were hoping to snap a six-game losing streak Tuesday night at Cornersville. The Lady Champs, paced by 13 points by Lani Jones and 10 points by Kylie Calvert, broke their losing streak and extended Cornersville’s to eight games with a 41-26 victory. -
Red-hot Vikings storm past Tigers in district opener (High School Sports ~ 01/16/20)
The Marshall County Tigers opened up District 12-AA play Tuesday at the Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg versus the number-10 ranked Community Vikings, got behind early and could never catch up in an 81-65 loss. The Vikings had four players in double figures with Kobe Pride leading the way with a game-high 29 points, including a solid 9-for-13 effort from the free throw line. Bryan Mitchell had 14 points, James Lane netted a dozen, and Tyrese Eady had 10 for the Vikings, who have only one loss on the season. -
Tigerettes win district opener over Viqueens (High School Sports ~ 01/16/20)
Marshall County posted a solid 9-3 record in non-district play leading up to Tuesday night’s District 12-AA opener versus Community at the Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg where they came away with a 50-40 Homecoming win over the scrappy Viqueens. The four-time state champions and 2018-2019 state tournament participant Tigerettes were led in the scoring column by senior Kelsey Keiler, who scored a game-high 17 points, including a 9-for-15 effort from the free throw line with six made charity shots down the stretch to seal the win. -
