The Forrest Lady Rockets are trying to gel after the loss of star senior Carissa Curtis and after a season opening loss to Huntland, the Chapel Hill girls took on a very good Columbia Central team at home on Friday night. “Anytime you lose a great, experienced player like Carissa Curtis it is going to be difficult,” Forrest coach Corey Bishop said. “But, I have a lot of confidence in our team and they are working extremely hard at practice and in the games.” “We think everyone is going to improve from practice to practice and game to game.” -
Lions romp over Rockets (High School Sports ~ 11/25/20)
It’s been several decades since Forrest and Columbia Central have gotten together on the hardwood, but they squared off Friday night at Chapel Hill in the first of a home and away series with the Lions winning big 58-30. “Columbia Central is a great team and one of the better teams in their district,” Forrest coach Corey Bishop said. “We held them to 58 points after they opened with an 85-point game.” “We had our opportunities, but missed out on some open shots on the perimeter and at the basket.” -

Tigers blast Fayetteville in Hall of Champions matchup (High School Sports ~ 11/25/20)
Marshall County squared off with Fayetteville City in a battle of the Tigers Thursday night at the Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg in the second game of the twin bill for neighboring county schools. Marshall County used a 6-0 run late the first half and poured it on in the second half to come away with a 75-36 victory over Fayetteville. Bryson Hughes’ 18 points led a parade of double figure scoring from the MCHS Tigers as Devonte Davis had 13 points, Omarion Alred scored 11, and Kaamil Hazel chipped in 10 points. -

Rockets continue long winning streak over Bulldogs (High School Sports ~ 11/25/20)
The Cornersville Bulldogs hosted the Forrest Rockets in the nightcap of Monday night’s intra-county rivalry doubleheader. The Bulldogs could not get their shots to fall and the Rockets got a balanced scoring attack from three of their five starters, who all tallied in double figures as Forrest rolled to a 47-25 victory over the Bulldogs. The Forrest win was the 25th straight over the Bulldogs, dating back to February 8, 2002 when Cornersville beat the Rockets 55-48 at Chapel Hill. -
