Orr has been a four-year starter for the Forrest Rockets Golf Team and served as team captain. He led the Rockets as low medalist for the past two seasons and finished his senior campaign as the fifth best golfer in the district.
He began playing golf at an early age with his father, the late Jimmy Orr, who worked the greens at Henry Horton State Park for 23 years. His father and current director of the course, Kerry Blanton, actually cut down a set of men's golf clubs for Jamie when he was just two years old.
"He's been playing ever since," said his mother, Sylvia.
It is little wonder then that Jamie grew up to lead his Rocket team on the links and earned a spot on the Redhawks Golf Team beginning next season at Martin Methodist College.
Orr has also excelled in the classroom at Forrest High School as he graduated this year with a 3.2 GPA. He was nominated two years in a row in the Who's Who of High School Students and was also selected for nomination into the National Collegiate Society of Student Scholars. He plans to study Pre-Pharmacy as a student at MMC.
