Mrs. Betty June Bush Allen, age 81, of the Caney Spring Community of Marshall County, died Saturday, February 10, 2007. She was a native of Reevesville, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma Heldreth Bush. Mrs. Allen was an active member of the Caney Spring United Methodist Church and the Berlin Charge Choir, very active in the United Methodist Women, a longtime member of the Lewisburg Study Club, an avid reader and a published poet. She was also instrumental in the organization of jail ministries in Marshall County.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her son, Alex Allen and a grandson, Hunter Raquet.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Edwin Allen of the Caney Spring Comm.; four daughters, Carol (Charles) Bond, Bethesda Comm., Nancy (Oliver) Brown, Franklin, TN, Margaret Campbell, Jacksonville, FL, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Jewell, Franklin, TN; daughter-in-law, Debbie Allen, Caney Spring Comm.; ten grandchildren, Susan Brown, Franklin, TN, Melissa (Chris) Ayers, Houston, TX, Allen (Marijo) Bond, Bethesda Comm., Robert (Maureen) Bond, Bethesda Comm., Melinda Carbone, Jacksonville, FL, John Daniel (Lindsay) Allen, Caney Spring Comm., Cannon (Lucretia) Allen, Caney Spring Comm., Lennie Garrett, Jacksonville, FL, Christopher Raquet, Franklin, TN, Sara Allen, Caney Spring, Comm.; thirteen great grandchildren.

Visitation was Sunday, February 11, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted Monday, February 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caney Spring United Methodist Church with Rev. George Jones, Rev. Diane Blum and Rev. Jeff Blum officiating. Family members received friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial was in Allen Cemetery in the Caney Spring Community.
