Marshall County High School has named the delegates and alternates for this year's Volunteer Girls' State and American Legion Boys' State.

Volunteer Girls' State is a leadership and citizenship-training program offered by the American Legion Auxiliary. This one-week program provides young women the opportunity to form and run a mock government by meeting, living, and working with other young female leaders from across the state. Representing MCHS at Girls' State will be delegates Lauren Anderson and Kristein Mason. Alternates are Holly Lowrance and Veronica Schultz.

Volunteer Girls' State will be held this summer on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

American Legion Boys State, also a one-week program, will be held on the Tennessee Tech University campus this summer. According to the Department of Tennessee Youth Programs and Scholarships Web site, American Legion Boys' State "is planned so that young men may put into actual practice the theories of Government through actual participation in city, county, and state governments organized as a 'Mythical 51st State.' The entire program is non-partisan and will not reference any existing political party."
