Home invasion sends Summit resident to hopsital

Wednesday, April 4, 2007

For the second time in approximately three months, intruders have forced their way into a woman's apartment at the Summit Apartments on Franklin Road and while nothing was taken, the victim was transported by ambulance to Marshall Medical Center, complaining of chest pains, following the attack.

According to the police report filed by Detective Kevin Clark of the Lewisburg Police Department, Barbara Elise Murphy, age 69, opened the door of her apartment after someone was repeatedly knocking on the door without saying anything. When Murphy opened the door, two men forced their way into the apartment and told the victim "give me your pot". The victim stated to police that she thought they were talking about something to cook with. One of the intruders then shoved Murphy against the wall and the two men left the apartment.

A neighbor, Michael Reed, saw the two men, one described as a white male, approximately 5' 10" with a thin build, wearing blue jeans and a long sleeve shirt with possibly a name tag on the shirt; the other described as a white male approximately 5' 10" with a thin build, dark hair, and a tattoo on his neck and dressed in the same clothing as the other intruder.

The witness followed the subjects out the back entrance where the pair got into a brown Blazer which had been backed into a spot next to the dumpster. The vehicle was last seen turning right onto Franklin Avenue.

In an unrelated incident a few months ago, a man who was intoxicated, entered into Murphy's apartment, but was chased out by her and followed by Reed. No arrest have been made in either case. If you have any information about the case, contact the Lewisburg Police Department.
