Johnson - Humphrey united in marriage

India Joy Humphrey and David Ryan Johnson were married September 30, 2006 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Lewisburg with the Reverend Paul Lucas officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Sam and Betsy Shelton and Andy and Wanda Humphrey, all of Lewisburg. The bridegroom is the son of David and Cindy Johnson also of Lewisburg.

The bride wore an elegant strapless Duponte silk gown with featured pick-ups. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white and pink lilies and hydrangeas. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Paige Liggett, Miss Emily Hastings, Mrs. Haley Hardison and Mrs. April Childress. Mrs. Amanda Willis served as the matron of honor with Miss Katie Hinson serving as maid of honor. Dressed in chocolate brown, they carried bouquets of pink hydrangeas. The flowers girls, Allaina Ricketts and Bethany Carlton, carried kissing balls adorned with pink carnations.

David Johnson served as his son's bestman and the groomsmen included Joshua Johnson, brother of the bridegroom, Richard Guenther, grandfather of the bridegroom, Craig Locke, Daniel Hill and Trey Childress. Ushers included Todd Shelton, brother of the bride, Joe Liggett, Drew Smith and Phillip Davidson. Little Jarrett Foster and Peyton Finch range the bells to announce the entrance of the bride. Escorted by her stepfather, the bride entered upon a monogrammed aisle runner which was hand painted by the bride's sister.

Guests enjoyed music performed by a string quartet, and a solo by Mrs. Chantay Tharpe of Huntsville. Mrs. Madelyn Shelton, grandmother of the bride, read a love poem by Helen Steiner Rice as a gift to the couple.

The chocolate brown and pink theme was carried over into the reception, which immediately followed the ceremony. Dinner and dancing was held under a tent at the "Paige with Love" Photography Studio here in Lewisburg.

After a honeymoon in Kauai, Hawaii, the couple now resides here in Lewisburg. The bride, who is employed by Centerstone Mental Health Agency, works in Columbia at Riverside Elementary School is pursing a Masters Degree in Education. The bridegroom is employed by First Commerce Bank of Lewisburg and Chapel Hill.

The bridegroom's parents hosted a traditional Texas style barbecue for the wedding party after the rehearsal.
