The Marshall County Child Development Center and other local organizations, in conjunction with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, are celebrating the Week of the Young Child.

County Mayor Joe Liggett signed a proclamation officially declaring April 23-27 the Week of the Young Child. "We are so proud of the work the Child Development Center has done here," Liggett said. "The help it provides for the children and the services it provides for the community are incredible."

The proclamation emphasizes the need to recognize and support the people, programs, and policies that are committed to high-quality early childhood education as the right choice for children.

"Early intervention and identification is key to healthy development and that's why we are here. We help with parent concerns or questions to ensure the children of Marshall County get a healthy start," said Child Development Center Manager Sarah Butler.
