Polly Viar McLean

Polly Viar McLean, 81, of Newbern, Tenn., died Thursday, April 26, 2007, at her residence. She was born November 21, 1925 at Lenox, Tenn. She was a homemaker and retired teacher, having worked for the Dyer County School System. She taught at RoEllen School.
Mrs. McLean was a member of Center United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Dyer County Farm Bureau and a former member of the Edgewood Home Demonstration Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, B. F. and Nettie Campbell Viar.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, W. W. McLean; her daughters, Susan McLean Lazenby (Tom) of Franklin, and Carolyn McLean Stark (Jim) of Trimble; her sons Lyn McLean (Kathy) and Steve McLean (Donna) both of Newbern; a sister, Mildred Long of Silver Spring, Md.; a brother, Bert Viar of Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Melissa Stark Koffman (Chris) of Nashville, Will McLean (Marce) of Franklin, Lt. Grant Stark (Anna) of Pensacola, Fla., Rob McLean of Denver, Colo., Amy Stark Davis (Yuri) of Cookeville, Heather McLean of Martin, Heath McLean of Newbern and Ellis Lazenby of Franklin; and three great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Lt. Grant Stark, Will McLean, Rob McLean, Heath McLean, Jim Stack and Tom Lazenby.
Visitation was held at 2 p.m. on April 29, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Home in Newbern with services at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Dr. Mickey Carpenter and Rev. Dan Tilley officiated. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.
