Over 60 children and adults enjoyed games, exhibits, and nutritious foods. Adults were given recipes for quick, nutritious meals and information on TennderCare, a free well-check program provided for children through the Marshall County Health Department.
Everyone got to sample Big Orange Burgers, fruit kabobs and icees made from fruit juice.
Big Orange Burgers
1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup finely shredded carrot
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon pepper
4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
Mix carrot, onion, salt and garlic powder with water. Add ground beef and mix well.
Shape into four patties; spread to 1/2 inch thickness
Grill over medium heat until center reaches 160 degrees.
Top with cheese and serve on whole-wheat bun.
