Marshall County's 15-16 year old All Stars started their run at the State Tournament Saturday in Maryville. The girls played very well in their first inning of the game against Morristown. But as the second quickly followed and they were tied, 2-2, the girls were unfocused. Many errors were made which unerved the girls further. They went on to lose the game in six innings of play by the score of 15-2.
The team agreed they had an off day.
Sunday, the girls relaxed and refocused in preparation for their next game against Eagleton.
When 8 p.m. on Monday came, the girls took the field with confidence. Coaches "Spook" Clark, Allison Cashion, and Kaitlyn Hunter started Mandy Sanders on the mound.
Sanders pitched great, and with few errors from the Marshall County team, they held Eagleton through the fourth inning where they were tied 4-4.
At the top of the fifth, Taylor Herron relieved Mandy Sanders. With two base hits in the bottom of the sixth, Eagleton pushed one run across the plate to give them all the runs they needed to win the game by the score of 5-4, sending Marshall County home.
The coaches and players would like to thank all of the parents, the community, and the business who gave donations and supported them on the trip.
