Cornersville's Sara Barnett hotter than the summer sun

Cornersville senior hoopster Sara Barnett has had a busy summer competing in various competitions throughout the state, most recently, the USA Junior Nationals all-state high school basketball competition at Middle Tennessee State University.

Based on her outstanding performance at MTSU, Barnett received an invitation to participate in the prestigious USA Junior Nationals International Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio from July 23-29.

Barnett will be representing Team Tennessee at the festival which brings together more than 40 teams from across the United States.

The Cornersville native is daughter of Jeff and Connie Barnett and was also was among the 108 campers who attended the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion basketball camp the week of June 29th.

According to a press release from Freed-Hardeman, Barnett was awarded for her hard work, positive attitude, and competitive spirit throughout the week as the camp coaches and counselors voted her the high school division Miss Hustle.

Barnett, known for her hustle and gritty defensive work on the hardwood for the Lady Dawgs was the recipient of the Defensive Player of the Year at the Cornersville Spring Sports Banquet.
