The 2006 season was a storybook one for Forrest Head Coach Dr. Larry Miller and his Lady Rocket soccer squad as they advanced further than any other Marshall County soccer team - men's or women's) - had ever gone before.

The Lady Rockets finished 12-3-1 last year, losing to Franklin Road Academy 7-0 in a TSSAA sub-state game. Miller's squad was District 11 and Region 9 runners-up to the Spring Hill Lady Raiders, who advanced to the state tournament, losing in the semi-finals versus Sweetwater 1-0.

"We are trying to build a soccer program at Forrest and keep building it," Miller said after his team opened the 2007 campaign with a 1-1 tie versus AAA Lawrence County Tuesday night.

Lady Rockets score first

The Lady Rockets and the Lady Wildcats were cautious in their approach as they substituted regularly because of the high temperatures. The officials also allowed the teams to take water breaks during the first half to make sure the players would not have any ill effects from the heat.

Forrest applied most of the first half pressure and finally broke through at the two-minute mark on an unassisted corner kick goal by Heather Collins that twisted around the Lawrence County net-minder into the right corner of the net.
