On Sept. 11th, the Marshall County High School Women's soccer team traveled to Loretto where they were victorious 3-0. The hard fought game was a good display of soccer that ended in Marshall County's third win of the season.
Pung sisters give Tigerettes offensive punch
In the sixth minute of the game, Marshall County scored their first goal. Kaitlynn Pung took the ball from about nineteen yards out, marking the first of three goals for MCHS.
Four minutes later Pung's older sister, Brittany made it 2-0 when she shot the ball from inside of the 18-yard box. Halftime approached with neither side seeing another goal until the second half.
Seven minutes into the second half, Cece Raffo took the ball in front of the goal where Loretto's keeper had deflected a shot. She put the ball around the keeper, making the score 3-0 and securing the lead of MCHS on Loretto. Loretto ended the game with a total of five shots, one corner kick, one foul, and fifteen goalkeeper saves.
MCHS had a total of twenty shots, four corner kicks, six fouls, and one offside. Janeice Cathey totaled four saves in goal. The highlight of the game for the Tigerettes was the outstanding wall the defense provided, making it impossible for Loretto to gain an advantage.
