Larry Edwin Clay, age 73 of Lewisburg, died Oct. 3 at his home after an extended illness. Clay was born in Bedford County and was a son of the late Thomas Nowlin and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Clay. He was a graduate of Forrest School Class of 1952 and retired from Sanford Corporation after 35 years of service. Hey was a member and Deacon of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Lewisburg.
His wife of 51 years, Betty Phifer Clay; three daughters, Connie Boots of Cookeville, Lisa Uselton of Belfast, and Susan Jones of Lewisburg; two brothers, Rodney Clay of Lewisburg, and Billy Clay of Columbia; and six grandchildren survive him.
Funeral services will be conducted Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Lucas and Rev. Wayne Cable officiating. Burial will follow in Hopper Cemetery in the Laws Hill Community.
