The Marshall County Young Farmers and Ranchers will be hosting a Haunted Woods every Friday and Saturday in October from dark till 11 p.m.  The cost is $10.  Proceeds benefit an annual scholarship for a graduating senior.  They are located in Chapel Hill.  Turn by the post office and follow the signs.  Not recommended for children under the age of 13.

MCHS Homecoming football game will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 5. The class of '88 will get into the game free. A list of names will be at each gate. Class members should tell the gate workers they are '88 alumni to receive free admission.

First Farmers & Merchants Bank will host a book signing for internationally acclaimed author P.M. Terrell from 2 to 4 p.m., Oct. 5 at F&M's main office, 816 South Garden Street. Terrell, author of suspense thrillers Ricochet, The China Conspiracy and Kickback will be signing copies of her ninth book, Songbirds are Free, which will be released in Oct. 2007. The Lewisburg Lions Club Octoberfest will be held on Oct. 6 beginning at 6 a.m. "on the Square" with an all you can eat pancake and sausage breakfast. Vendors will be set up on the square and a full slate of entertainment has been scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and run throughout the day.

The Lewisburg Chapter 5249 of AARP will meet in regular session on Oct. 8 in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. There will be a guest speaker for the program.

UT Extension Service Marshall County will be conducting Beef Quality Assurance Certification on Oct. 11. Two meeting times will be offered: 1:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. You need to attend only one meeting. Any questions regarding this program can be addressed to your county agent at 359-1929.

The Bedford County Southern Tennessee Daycare Association is sponsoring it's annual Fall Workshop on Saturday, Oct. 13th at the Shelbyville Tennessee Technology Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Six hours of in-service training will be provided by Betty Ann Olgivie, Alice Johnson and The Field's Family.  Cost is $20, lunch is included.  For reservations contact Vivian Bynum at 931-389-7069.

The Middle Tennessee Small Band Championship will beheld on Oct. 13 beginning at 10 a.m. in Chapel Hill. The event is hosted by the Forrest Rocket Band of Blue. For more information on the event, call Band Director Billy Batemon at 364-7260.

A basic computer skill class is available on Oct. 16 at the Marshall County Adult Learning Center. Class size is limited to 10 people, so call 359-7609 for information or to register today.

The October CHYFL board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the Forrest High Field House. This meeting is open to the public.

The Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry will be hosting a Trash to Treasure yard sale on Oct. 19 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Oct. 20 from 7 a.m. to noon. Come out and find your treasure and help support their women's ministry

Giles County 17th Annual Chili Cook-off will be held from 5:30 -- 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Pulaski's Historic Downtown Square. Live music and kids zone.

The Petersburg Senior Citizen Fall Gospel Singing and Supper will be held on Oct. 20. A supper of assorted soups, desserts and drinks will begin at 6 p.m. Gospel singing featuring the Encouragers from Florence, Ala., will begin at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the Petersburg Senior Citizen Center, 509 Railroad Street. Forrest Soccer Club is holding a golf tournament and a hole-in-one contest at Henry Horton State Park. The Hole-In-One contest will be a six-day event starting on Oct. 29th, and ending the morning of Nov. 3rd.  The hole-in one contest is sponsored by Team Chevrolet. The tournament will be held Nov. 3rd with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. There will be cash prizes, along with several other great prizes. A BBQ dinner will follow the tournament. All proceeds will benefit the Forrest Varsity Girls and Boys soccer teams.  Donations of cash and door prizes are on all brochures.
