For the third time in recent weeks, Marshall Countyâ€™s Beer Board is scheduled to consider a womanâ€™s request to sell beer at her establishment on Fayetteville Highway near Petersburg.
The beer board is to convene at 5 p.m. on Monday in the County Courthouse Annex on the south side of the Lewisburg public square. The panelâ€™s meeting precedes the monthly county commission meeting by 30 minutes.
Approximately 30-50 people went to the second floor of the annex on Monday this week when Board Chairman Larry McKnight didnâ€™t have a quorum necessary to proceed with Brenda Lemleyâ€™s application. The panel first met to consider the application on Sept. 24.
â€śThe applicant has up to three times in one year to reapply,â€ť McKnight said Wednesday. â€śThere was a lot of opposition at the first meeting,â€ť he said, noting the issue included sale of beer with meals and packaged beer for carry out.
