Frances Wright Thompson, age 85 of Columbia, formerly of Lewisburg, died Oct. 30 in NHC Columbia.

Thompson was born in Dickson to G.E. and Flossie Bishop Wright. She was a graduate of Dickson County High School. She married Robert Guerin Thompson of Dickson on Jan.30, 1945.

Dr. and Mrs. Thompson moved to Lewisburg in 1946 where Mrs. Thompson was active in the First Methodist Church of Lewisburg and the Methodist Chapel from the time of its organization in 1959. She served for many years as a sunday school Teacher of children and was constantly active in service to her community. She was, also, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed travel, the family farm in Hickman County, and the activities of her grandsons. Thompson was predeceased by her husband of sixty-two years, Dr. Robert Guerin Thompson, Sr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert G. Thompson, Jr. and Sarah Pedigo Thompson of Columbia; grandsons, Robert G. Thompson, III of Nashville, and Warren M. Thompson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a sister, Marjorie Wright Hickman of Warner Robins, Ga.

Funeral services will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church Lewisburg with burial to follow in Union Cemetery in Dickson.

Her family wishes to thank her many friends for their love and support and the staff of NHC Columbia for their care for her during her residence there. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to a charity which provides for the nurture, health or education of children. London Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
