Veteran's Day Program at Marshall Elementary School will be held on Nov. 9 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the MES cafeteria. The MES faculty and staff will provide breakfast and beverages to all veterans who attend.

Farmington United Methodist Church will sponsor a gospel singing at 6 p.m. on Nov. 10 featuring the Missionaries to the Nations with soprano Tane Miller, the Worship Team from Methodist Church in Chapel Hill and The Whaley's from Farmington. This free event promises to be an evening of inspirational music, good fellowship and good food. Donations will be accepted but are not required.

Minister Steve Hampton will be giving his first sermon at Liggett Street Church of God at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 11. Everyone is invited. Elder Eddie Shirley, pastor.

The Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Chapel Hill will be celebrating their 134th church anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 11. Rev. James McCarroll and First Baptist Church from Murfreesboro will be the afternoon guest. Morning service will begin at 11 a.m. and the afternoon service will begin at 3 p.m.

Sacred Songs and Spirituals at First Presbyterian Church of Lewisburg will be held at 3 p.m. on Nov. 11. The afternoon performances will feature Robert Neumeyer (Bass, Barritone) and Elise Dumser (Piano, Organ).

Veteran's Day Program at Chapel Hill Elementary will be held on Nov. 12 beginning at 8 a.m. with a light breakfast in the cafeteria. A special program for the veterans will follow at 9 a.m. in CHES playroom. All veterans are invited to come.

Marshall Chapter 5249 of AARP will meet in regular session at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church. The directors will meet at 1 p.m., prior to the regular meeting. Members should be present for election of officers for 2008. Ronal Aldridge, Superintendent of Duck River Electric Membership Corporation, will be the guest speaker.

All city offices will be closed on Nov. 12 in observance of Veteran's Day. The Monday garbage route will be picked up on the following Thursday.

Chapel Hill city offices will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12, in observance of Veterans Day. The office will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Marshall County Senior Citizen Center will be closed on Nov. 12 in observance of Veteran's Day, and Nov. 22-23 for Thanksgiving.

The Chapel Hill Touchdown Association will meet on at 6 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Forrest Field house to nominate 2008 officers. All high school and middle school football and cheerleader parents and supporters are encouraged to attend. You must be a member to elect new officers.

The November CHYFL board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Nov. 14 at the Forrest High Field House. This meeting is open to the public. Board Member nominations will take place.

H&S Pharmacy #2 will be holding a special diabetes event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 14 at 850 N. Ellington Pkwy where you will be able to get a new meter at no charge

The Great American Smokeout is Nov. 15. The Marshall County Health council encourages all smokers and smokeless tobacco users to demonstrate to themselves and our children that they can quit and to further encourage our children not to start smoking by joining the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout.

Marshall County American Red Cross presents Christmas Village on Nov. 17th from 9 a.m. -- 4 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Lewisburg. Booth space is available for a $25 rental fee (provide own tables). For more information call the event chair at 931-359-3918 or the Red Cross office at 359-1211.

The Relay for Life Cancer Society Fitness Gurus will have a booth at the Christmas Village on Nov. 17 selling ornaments and baked goods.

The American Legion Auxiliary will meet in regular session at 9 a.m. on Nov. 19 at Village Manor for breakfast, with the meeting to follow.

The Marshall County Library will be closed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Nov. 22,23 and 24) for the Thanksgiving holiday. Also, the Library Board of Trustees will be meeting Nov. 27 at 6 p.m.

American Red Cross Blood drive will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Nov. 26 at Church Street Church of Christ, 305 W. Church St.

The annual Christmas Giftbox will be held Dec. 1 -- 2 at the Maury County Park, Baker and Exhibit Buildings, in Columbia. The giftbox is sponsored by the Margaret Yarbrough Circle of The King's Daughters school. For more information contact Marsha Kirk at 931-381-2210.
