Mrs. Annie Ruth Carter, age 89, of Lewisburg, died Friday, Nove. 16, in NHC Lewisburg.
Mrs. Carter was a native of Marshall County, and daughter of the late H. Clay and Iris Mabel Welch Gates. She was a homemaker and member of Lewisburg First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Philip Monroe Carter; three brothers, Forrest Gates, Clyde Gates, and Woodson Gates; and her husband, J.E. (Buddy) Carter in 2006, she is survived by three sons, David Carter of Huntsville, Ala., Woodson Carter, and Monroe Carter both of Lewisburg; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, also, survive.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Dmser and Rev. Paul Woodford officiating. Burial in Lone Oak Cemetery followed with David Carter, Woodson Carter, Monroe Carter, Michael Carter, Matthew Carter, Bill Carter and Joshua Carter serving as pallbearers.
The family was at London Funeral Home Saturday from 5-8 p.m. for visitation and Sunday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour at the church.
