From Staff Reports

CORNERSVILLE -- Marshall County Sheriff's investigators are asking for help in identifying a body found along Lynnville Highway on Sunday.

"The body was found about 11 a.m. Sunday," said Sheriff Les Helton. "The body was discovered by a passer-by on his way to church and he called it in."

The body is that of a Hispanic male about 35 to 40 years of age, Helton said. He added that there were no signs of foul play.

"They've done the autopsy and right now we're leaning toward natural causes as the cause of death," the sheriff said.

According to Helton, the body was not far from the road when it was discovered. "I'd say it was within several feet of the blacktop when they found the body," he said.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist with the case.

"We've run about every lead we had," Helton said. "We're hoping that maybe a family member or someone who knows the deceased will step forward with information that can help us identify the body."

Anyone with information about a missing person who fits the description of the body is asked to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's office at 931-359-6122.
