The Lady Rockets fell behind early to the Richland Lady Raiders 16-11 at the end of the first quarter and played them even the rest of the game, losing by the five-point margin.
Forrest crept close on many occasions in the second half, getting to within two points several times, but the Lady Raiders answered the charge every time.
The Lady Rockets struggled from the perimeter, making just three goals from outside the three-point line, while Richland buried a total of five long bombs.
"We need to work harder in practice in shooting from the perimeter," said FHS Head Coach Robby Reasonover. "If we could have made a couple of those outside shots we probably would have won the game. Hopefully we will come around and be more consistent from the perimeter."
While the Lady Rockets struggled from the outside the inside game was strong as Beth Hawn had another great night, scoring 15 points in the paint. Senior stand-out Gaby Bussell also played strong in the post, tallying 11 points.
"We competed well," said Reasonover. "There were some areas where we did not perform well and some we did. I still feel good about the direction we are going."
The senior tandem of Rachel Glidden and Anna Bell combined for 30 points for the Lady Raiders (4-0). Forrest (4-2) will not see the hardwood again until they open up district play Friday night at Van Buren.
