The five Marshall County elementary school principals met last week and worked out a system-wide grading and assessment plan intended to standardize how a student's progress is measured.
Under the plan, grades in first and second grades will be based 90 percent to 100 percent on class work and tests, and 0 percent to 10 percent on homework.
Grades in third through sixth grade will be based 80 percent to 90 percent on class work and tests, and 10 percent through 20 percent on homework.
Kindergartens will continue to use the checklist formerly approved by the Marshall County Board of Education.
