Thomas Harder Chunn
Mr. Thomas Harder Chunn, 94, of Columbia, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at the Life Care Center of Columbia.
Mr. Chunn was born Nov. 27, 1913, in Marshall County. He was a veteran of World War II and a founder of the Global War Veterans organization. He was a real estate broker and auctioneer in Columbia. With his wife Martha, also a real estate broker, he conducted business as Chunn Land and Mortgage for many years and was active in the formation of the Maury County Board of Realtors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon Thomas Chunn and Maggie Izora Scott Chunn; wife of more than 60 years, Martha Ellen Turpin Butler Chunn; sister, Marie Chunn Dillingham; a great-grandchild; and extended family member and fellow realtor, William Wade Reed Sr.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ann Chunn Shackelford of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Donald Thomas (Nan Johnson) Chunn of Columbia; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one nephew; and two nieces.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 16, at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Roberts officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Tennessee National Guard.
