Arby's opening nears

Construction crews have been putting the finishing touches on the Arby's restaurant on Ellington Parkway.

One of the new managers estimates the store will hire 60-70 people starting late this week.

The roast beef sandwich shop was among the Tax Increment Financing program participants to sign a contract with Lewisburg this year while other steps were being taken to locate another so-called "sit-down" restaurant here.

TIF programs lower property taxes for new businesses. Bills start low and increase annually toward a full annual payment. It's done statewide to attract new employers and increase the tax base on the theory that a percentage of something is more than nothing.
